Spring Into Big Cat's

Spring is the time of year when so many things begin to show promise. As flowers spring up and the sun begins to show it self a bit more often our spirits are lifted as we begin to think more about what we want to do or get done outside. As a fisherman myself spring is always a time of year I look forward to. Traditionally it's been about chasing Walleye's around Michigan or Steelhead fishing on the Muskegon River. One thing I wasn't aware of as spring begins to unfold. One of Michigan's best kept fishing secrets lies waiting.

Fishing for Catfish in West Michigan can produce 10 to 20 Channel Catfish a trip often in the range of 3 to 15 pounds. Option to target big catfish like Flathead Catfish are also available. Even though you don't catch as many fish as you do when targeting Channel Catfish. Hooking fish in the 30 to 40 pound range is common

There are a good amount of people out there that recognize how much fun these fish are. I've not seen many that realize the numbers or the size of the Catfish we have in West Michigan's rivers. I know I never did. All though I have caught my fair share while targeting walleye's or other species. My passion for Catfish was always limited to the fond memories I had of growing up on a lake and fishing for Bullhead after dark. It wasn't until the last few years I realized how much others not only enjoyed fishing for catfish but have a sincere passion for it. One person with just such a passion is fishing guide Dan Lipski. My kids call him Dan the Catfish Man . Dan owns and operates River Kat Guide Service. Dan grew up spending a good amount of time fishing with his father on the Grand River. It's easy to see after spending any time at all with Dan that he loves to fish. Get him on the conversations about big cats and his passion runs deep. While talking to Dan about Catfish strategies. There seemed to be three main things he considers when going after Catfish. Looking for good structure, the bait you use and how those baits are rigged.

Dan's set ups consists of 8 foot fiber glass composite rods, Abu Garcia level wined reels spooled with Power Pro braided line. He uses Power Pro 10-40 for most of his fishing but has several reels spooled with 12-50 Power Pro for targeting bigger fish. The fiber glass rod will take the abuse of the hard fighting fish and the Power Pro line Dan feels is required. Dan said with the fact these fish like to hold close to the structure they like to turn into it as soon as you set the hook. With this extremely tough line, Dan can put the pressure on the fish as soon as he sets the hook. You need to turn their head away from the troubled areas right away. When they do get wrapped up, the no stretch characteristics of Power Pro sticks the pressure directly to the fish to pull them out Dan commented.

Bait options are numerous but Dan is very particular about which baits he uses. He decides what he is going to use based on what he intends to target that day. One of Dan's favorites baits when targeting big numbers of fish is a stink bait made by Cat Tracker. When he needs to put big fish in the boat It's all about using big and lively bait. Some of Dan's most dependable baits are 12 inch live Shad and hand size Blue Gills. If good numbers and overall quality fish is the goal. A fresh creek chub is where it's atDan says. He puts a great deal of effort catching these chubs and keeping them alive. Fresh is so important he keeps them alive and turns them into a precision piece of cut bait right before they go on the hook. Dan said fresh but not alive is key when using Chubs. It's the smell that their attracted to . For rigging cut bait or live bait Dan likes to use a 3 to 4 ounce slip sinker with a very short lead to a blood red # 7/O Daiichi Circle hook which keeps the bait tight to the bottom. He uses 7/0 for live bait and 5/0 Eagle Claw #84 for cut bait.
Areas that hold fish can be easy to find but challenging to deal with. Like targeting many other fish finding structure is definitely the key. One way to get started when trying to locate where these fish maybe holding is to start with the most obvious. Looking for a log or logs sticking out of the water is a good place to start. These fish like cover and so does their bait. A log can offer suitable feed along with easy swimming as the fish will lay in the slack water created by wood or other obstructions. One thing that's very helpful to have is a depth finder. Even if it's not a top of the line Lowrance fish finder. Many of the rivers in West Michigan have very low visibility. The basic models show depth and seeing where the depth of the water makes a sudden change is what you need to look for. A sudden change in depth if even by a few feet can create a comfortable spot to hold for big cats. By watching your fish finder you may find those changes were made by wood or piles of rocks that are underwater that aren't as easily noticed.

When targeting rivers and structure it's important to bring an anchor heavy enough that you can drop straight down and hold your boat position. The less line you have out to the anchor the better. The tighter the lead to the anchor the less the boat will move in the wind or current. Using an anchor at both the bow and the stern of the boat is best. Anchoring your boat up stream form the area you have decided to fish is a must. Choose a weight that is heavy enough to stay right where you cast it. When fishing rivers it's best to prevent your bait from dragging on the bottom. With good anchoring and your weight holding your bait in place your able to spread your lines out and loose fewer rigs. The weights Dan use he pours himself because of their shape. He says any slip sinker will work but Dan suggests keeping your leader short from your sinker to your hook to minimize snagging.

Springtime Catfish in West Michigan will be on my list of things to do for years to come. I hope it's on yours too.

			QUESTION:
Powerpro or Sufix braided line for saltwater fishing?
ANSWER:
They are both quality lines with each having their fans. Like most terminal tackle, for every person who likes one brand, there is someone who like another.

			QUESTION:
PowerPro Braided line for Catfishing.....?
This past season I made the switch from mono line to braided lines. I used Spiderwire camo braid in a 50lb line. From that point on I was hooked on braided line for cat-fishing. I quickly made the step up to using 50lb PowerPro moss green line. This year I purchased two new Ugly Stik Catfish spinning combos from Bass Pro Shops and I am looking for suggestions for line to put on them. I am leaning toward putting 65lb PowerPro on them, but I have been reading a lot about using red line instead of green because it disappears better under the water. I am a little wary about making the switch from green to red, but don't want to miss out on catching more fish. Hopefully someone who is a die hard cat-fisherman sees this and can give me their input. I am also wondering whether or not going up from 50lb to 65lb is going to make it that much harder to cast. Thanks.

				ANSWER:
I watched a fishing show a couple years back on "red" colored line. They did some testing with scuba divers in various depths to see when (or if) it actually disappeared. (I also read a corroborating article on this subject in Florida Sportsman Magazine.)

The results???

To the human eye the red line BEGAN to disappear in 20-22FT of water. Above that it was MORE visible than blue, clear or green. Ironically, ALL line starts to disappear in depths around 20 ft......

They hypothesized that the red color may attract fish because it replicates blood in the water.

In my opinion, line color is a "confidence issue". What works for one angler may not work for another.

The only scientifically proven line that is invisible at any depth is Fluorocarbon.

If I were you, and wanted an invisible line, I would use a 25LB Fluro leader.

I have to agree with Devyn. 50LB Braid is PLENTY heavy for most US freshwater catfish applications. I've watched the TV show "The Hunt for Big Fish" where they were catching world record Mekong Catfish and the Host was using 25LB braid, (equaling 100LB Mono).

We don't have cats in the US that will rival the Mekong's......

Here's a Youtube of a guy catching a "baby" Mekong-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jcaRq8BZFE

Like others have suggested, you SHOULD use a leader when fishing deeper water for big cats. Otherwise, you will eventually get snagged and lose uncounted yards of expensive Braid.......

Hope this extra info helps ya? Thumbs up to D.

			QUESTION:
50lb Braided line? Too Excessive?
i was thinking of ordering a 50lb spool of braided line, is this excessive. i usually fish for bass and catfish, and recently i have seen a few catfish jump out of the water at the local pond who's heads were at least a foot and a half across. and with 20 LB line i would hate to hook it and have it get off. Also i was wondering which brand of braided line is the best to use at 50lb. Its between "PowerPro Braided Spectra Fiber Micro Filament Line", "SpiderWire Stealth Braided Fishing Line", or "Berkley FireLine Braid Fishing Line"

				ANSWER:
You might be able to back down to like a 30lb braid for what you need. On the other hand go with what you want it;s your reel and your waters.

			QUESTION:
Which brand of braided fishing line will hold its color better than others.?
I am planning on getting a Hi-Vis Yellow braid since I do a lot of night fishing, I was planning on getting PowerPro's Hi-Vis Yellow braid, but after talking to some people at a local tackle shop, they told me that PowerPro looses its color quickly and that the Hi-Vis Yellow would be white before I knew it.

My choice now is Stren Sonic Braid Hi-Vis Yellow line, because I heard Stren makes a good quality braid and it will hold its color for a long time. Though, others say it will not hold its color very long. Is that true, or will it hold it color loner than other braids?

				ANSWER:
Pretty much any super braid lines will lose their color. It is spectra fibers and are slick and any dyes used will start to come off. It comes down to how many times you go fishing I guess. So I would say there really isn't any way to measure how long a super braid line will retain its color.

			QUESTION:
Which Brand of braided line should I get?
basically i just want a brand that wont lose its color quickly and wont weaken over time.
I fish quite often. maybe 4 to 5 days a week, sometimes i even fish everyday if I can.
Which brand would work best? I'm more interested in Hi-Vis colors, such as Hi-Vis Yellow (I've heard PowerPro loses its color quickly)

				ANSWER:
Spider-wire is the only braid worth spending any money on.... High Visibility yellow is the best for holding it's color, but I really don't like being able to see my line that well, so i go with the original braid.

Here's more about the fishing reels manufactured by Shimano:

These fishing reels are of extremely durable design and manufacture specifically for big game fishing. Blue-water anglers catch big types of fish like marlin, tuna, swordfish, salmon, or halibut. These reels can handle the numerous heavy bouts that come with offshore sportfishing.

Their quality reels also allow casting at a longer distances without exerting as much effort. This can be attributed to the special line management and oscillation systems. You do not need to worry about tired arms and casting your line only a few feet in front of you. This will allow you to cover larger areas when fishing.

You also do not need to worry about line tangles or backlash because of the efficient line management system. The body is made up of aluminum while the side-plate and rotor are made of graphite. These materials make this fishing reel last for a long time even after using it for many seasons.

The price of these reels can range from to 0 depending on the type of reel.

How To Buy The Best Fishing Reels

One technique that every fisherman uses to catch the fish is the technique of good casting. Good casting means you are fast in casting and retrieving the fishing lure in the water. Fishermen continually cast and retrieve the fishing lure in the water to catch the fish attention and make them bite the hook. You need to be fast when it comes to this technique. Your speed depends on the type fishing reels you have. There are several of fishing reels that you can choose from and available for you in the market. Each of those has their own unique features that include the speed.

For best fishing reels, it should be convenient, comfortable and user-friendly. They need to be attached to the fishing rod. They need to be installed correctly for them to function well. If you don't have any idea how to install a fishing reel to fishing rod, you could go to the nearest fishing store in your place and ask for assistance. Your other option which is easier is to watch videos in the internet on how to install or assemble fishing rod sets.

The comfort in fishing relies on the fishing reels you have. Try to check the internet for the best fishing reels that will sooth your taste. Be keen in choosing the right fishing reels. Try to canvas different fishing stores and sites. You could also check for the price. Try to do some price comparison. By this, you will be able to know which of the stores offers the cheapest price. You could also check for the site that offers them in sale price.

Here are some factors that you need to consider before you buy or order these. If you are buying on a retail store, ask if they have promo to offer you. Try to bargain if you can with the price. But if you are ordering them online, there are important information that you needed to read and understand before buying them. Read the terms and conditions so you will know the policy of ordering the items. You could also check the return policy if they have.

This information will help you find out if you're getting ripped-off or not. So make sure that take time to read them before filling out any form in that site. It's always better that you know something so you could dispute of ever there is a problem.

Daiwa Electric Fishing Reels - Catch the Big One

Daiwa's first spinning reel was founded in 1955 in Japan. The company is now one of the largest tackle companies in the world. The company's emphasis has been on quality since day one. These Daiwa electric fishing reels are designed to last a lifetime. This company is amongst the top few companies that are known for making top of the line reels.

Daiwa is now able to offer a long list of fishing reels that anyone, especially an angler, would like to experience. Daiwa fishing reels are designed for many different areas of expertise. It could be bait casting, saltwater or fly-fishing, either way the fisherman is going to get the most out of their experience.

Daiwa electric reels are good for deep sea fishing and are also precision pieces of equipment. Because of its design it has become an effective reel for most anglers fishing needs. Usually when you are deep sea fishing you will have a situation where at some point in time you will have a lot of weight on the end of the line. You could be bottom fishing, where you expect to have to pull a lot of weight a long distance, or even smallish weights can also exhaust your hands. Try pulling a 20-pound fish up through 900 feet of water with a manual reel and see won't you have a different appreciation for an electric reel.

In addition, electric reels are fantastic for anglers with disabilities. These reels help those who have difficulty gripping and cranking a standard reel. They are designed for adaptive fishing and they tend to weigh less than those designed for deep sea fishing. They also make it easier for anyone to cast them. This will also make it easier to reel it all the way in.

Daiwa has positioned itself to be able to meet your needs. The only choice you really need to make today is when are you going to make this investment.

The Pikes Natural Food Is Always Best

The best thing to do if your going winter pike fishing, and your at a lake that has perch/roach, catch one first on a small spinner. Spinners are real cheap and great for catching perch at lakes. Perch love red and blue spinners. There is nothing like the pikes natural food, a big one will take a dead/live perch first time they see it. Just make sure you bring another reel with lighter line on it, 2lb or 3lb would be grand.

Places To Catch Big Pike

Places to catch big pike is right at the edges of lakes and rivers near weeds. If the wind is with you your best bet would be to let it flow natural into the weed bank using a big pike float. Pike are always on the prowl for food. They are the biggest fish in the lakes and loughs, and are scavengers that clean these lakes out by eating water rats and all the dead fish.

The Two Best Fall Bass Baits

Because people fish in so many different ways and most have a favorite way to fish, picking just two baits from the hundreds is difficult.

This is not an article for "experts" or people set in their ways. It's for the guys and gals who just like to fish and sure would like to go out sometime and catch a whole bunch of fish.

The best time to do that is during the fall, especially here on Barkley and Kentucky lakes, as well as on most other lakes on this general latitude.

Spring is when most people who don't fish every weekend think about wetting a line. Being cooped up for most of the winter has a lot to do with that. And spring is a great time to fish because bass and other game species are moving shallow where they become more vulnerable to the average fisherman.

During the fall, however, game fish again move shallow, but for a very different and important reason: During the spring, their primary motive is to spawn. During the fall, all they're thinking about is putting on their winter fat.

All those little fish they spent so much time making and guarding during the spring are nothing more than delicious, bite-sized morsels during the fall, and the truth is, they don't care who made them.

These bait fish of various species, but mostly shad around here, travel around in tightly-packed pods that can number in the thousands. There is some safety in numbers, but this natural instinct also makes it much easier for bigger fish to find and attack them.

Because the food these little fellers eat is found on or near the surface, these massive groups of synchronized swimmers are silhouetted against a clear sky like a flashing neon sign that says "eat here."
There is no more predictable pattern at any time of year. I'd be hard pressed to pick just two baits that I would call best for the spring, but during the fall I can do so with great confidence. These baits not only are the best, they are designed to be fished in a way that anyone can master in a few minutes, regardless their experience.

One is a Rat-L-Trap. You can fish just about any size and color of this lipless bait, and the other similar baits by other manufacturers, and catch some fish, but by far, the best size is a one-quarter-ounce with chrome sides and a blue back.

And you can fish it a few different ways, but by far, the best way is to bring it back about as fast as you can. They are wind resistant and very easy to cast long distances on either baitcasting or spinning equipment, using 10- or 12-pound test line.

The other is a Mepps or Rooster Tail in-line spinner, again in one-quarter ounce. Choose the whiter or lighter colors. Sometimes, when it is overcast, those with a gold blade work better, but bass and other game fish bust minnow pods most frequently when it is clear, so in-line spinners with a chrome blade are best.

In contrast, in-line spinners are best fished slowly, just fast enough to make the blade rotate, and the best equipment to cast them is a spinning outfit with 10-pound-test line. It, too, is very easy to cast long distances and all you have to do is bring them back slowly and steadily. If you bring them back slowly, they won't twist the line, either, so you don't need a swivel and all those extra knots that could break. Just tie them directly to the line.

You may have noticed that you can fish both baits quite well on a spinning outfit with 10-pound-test line, and that's really what I'd recommend, but I'd like to stress that the reel you choose should have a fast retrieve rate of 6-1 or better for the Rat-L-Traps. For this bait, speed kills, and you can always slow down for the in-line spinners, if that is what the fish prefer.

These two baits are so great, because they closely resemble the action, color, flash and size of the young-of-the-year minnows, especially during October and November, when this kind of fishing is at its peak.

With just one rod and two simple baits, you can go out and catch fish all day long by simply moving from pod to pod. These pods not only are highly visible and attractive to gluttonous game fish; it is simple for a fisherman to see which ones are being ravaged because of the splashy surface shows these game fish perform as they tear into them with predatory exuberance.

It may be not only the easiest, but the best fishing of the year.

			QUESTION:
winter fishing lures?
what is a great fishing lure for trout in the winter

				ANSWER:
red fish and trout spawn in the winter so if you get up in the bay flats or even on a bay pier the absolute best bait you can get is live mullet minnows. mullet is like candy for paper-mouths; if you can find a light on the water which attracts shrimp which attracts trout, and drop your live mullet out there you'll have a good sized spec in no time. shrimp can never do you any wrong but if trout is specifically what you want, mullet is the way to go.

			QUESTION:
What are some good soft plastics and lures for fall-winter bass fishing?
I fish from the shore and have caught nothing. I usually use grubs.

				ANSWER:
Winter Fishing usually means fish deep, at least when were talking about lakes. The top 3 lures for catching bass in winter are:

1. football jigs (in deep rocky lakes, arky jig in shallow weedy lakes) Beserkbaits jigs are good.
2. Spoons....Hopkins fished using electronic to find bait schools
3. drop shot...using roboworms or berserkbaits soft plastics in a 3/16 wt and a no. 4 gamigatsu octputs or split shot hook.

			QUESTION:
Winter Striper fishing below a dam? lures & baits?
i fish on a river directly below a dam on the NC/SC border. supposedly its the best spot near the lake for striper, even better than on the lake, but i dont have any luck in the winter for them. what lures/baits should i use and what weather/time of day is the best during jan., feb., months?

				ANSWER:
Start looking for Stripers around the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd breakwater nearest the dam. Stripers like to stay "just" out of the current waiting for a tasty morsel to swim by.

(Where current meets "slower" water is called a breakwater.)

Where I come from, (Jacksonville, Fla), we use large 1/2-1 OZ wide-gap jigs with 5-6" curly-tailed grubs, 1/2-1 OZ Spoons with a 6" fresh strip-bait as a trailer and large swim-baits such as a 6" Storm Wild-eye Swim Shad.

In J-ville, cold, rainy, miserable weather with overcast skys and low light levels always seemed to be when Stripers decided to turn on.

Try fishing very early moring and late evening into night.

Colors that work well: Chartreuse, White, White/Red head, "Glow" greens and Reds.

A good way to get Stripers "turned on" is with a large Spook Jr or Super Spook topwater lure retrieved in a "walk the dog" fashion. Topwater lures can sometimes "intrigue/inspire" Stripers to start on a feed.

Cast a TW for 20-30 minutes and then switch over to your Jigs, Spoons & Swimbaits.

Make sure to dowse all lures with a good fish attractant! Fish attractant removes the "human scent" which fish associate with danger. If Pogy's or Shrimp are in your fishing waters use an aersol Pogy or Shrimp spray attractant. If your in inland sweet-waters use a good Bass attractant. It only helps, and in most cases, can make the difference between catching something & catching NOTHING!

Hope this gives you some ideas? Good luck fishin'!

			QUESTION:
Are ice fishing lures different then regular ones? What are the best lures to ice fish with??
Ive never been ice fishing and there for know nothing about it...but my boyfriend loves ice fishing and so for christmas I was gonna get him a little tackle box and fill it with ice fishing lures for him so he can use when he goes ice fishing this winter...is there a difference between ice fishing lures and regular fishing lures?? If so can you please describe the difference or will it say on the package what kind of fishing its for?? Also, what kind of lures do you prefer to ice fish with??

				ANSWER:
The biggest difference between ice fishing lures and open water fishing lures is that regular lures travel horizontally through the water. You cast the lure out and reel it back in or troll behind a slow moving boat. When ice fishing the lure travels vertically. you can't cast through a small hole in the ice. I have caught many fish with the Rapala ice fishing jigs. They come in a variety of sizes and color patterns. Northland makes similar lures called airplane jigs. Another popular ice lure is the Swedish Pimple. Berkeley make a line of artificial baits called GULP! . They are popular with some ice fishermen. Hooks, sinkers and swivels would be good to have too. I hope this helps. If you can, get out on the ice with him at least once. You might have fun.

			QUESTION:
best lures for winter bass fishing?
im gonna bass fish this week its gonna be 70 degrees out and im hoping the water will warm up to 45 maybe 50 if i go to a certain lake besides slowing my presentation any other tips

				ANSWER:
The main tip is fish s-l-o-w, very slow at times. My favorite bait to throw in cool water are jigs. Preferrably 3/4 ounce or 1/2 ounce with a nice big trailer and rattle. A lot of people will say you want to size down your baits, which is true in some cases but not for baits like jigs. Bass are very slow moving in the Winter and if they go for a bait they want it to be well worth it. They won't tend to chase down baits like they do other times of the year which is why a slow retrieve is a pretty vital. They'll also generally be holding fairly deep as you mentioned so you of course want to give whatever you are using time to fall down to that deeper water. So again, a jig is my go to bait in the winter.

Second. if you haven't tried any rattle traps I'd strongly suggest it. I've pulled out more fish on these in cool water than I have on the jigs, they just don't tend to be as big. You can cover a lot of water with these and fish the however you want, they're very versatile. I like letting them sink until they hit bottom then use a stop and go retrieve with a twitch or 2 in between. They have loads of different colors and sizes so buy a few and experiement. Remember, GENERALLY in stained water a darker color will do best and in clear water a lighter/natural color will do best. But for some reason in Winter I've pulled a lot more fish out on a crawfish color in any water clarity. That would be my 2nd choice.

Lastly, if neither of those were producing I would bust out my bigger plastic worms. 10 inch and even 12 inch Texas rigged worms have done nicely for me in the past. I tend to stick with the Culprit brand worms and occsionally Berkley Powerbait worms. As I said I like Texas Rigging best but a lot of people will Carolina Rig and Drop Shot like you said. Im not sure of the brand but there's some pretty neat hooks that come with rattle on them that I like to use this time of year. When you're fishing in water as cold as you are you need all of the "extra" stuff you can get imo like extra noise, flashy/flakey materials, and scents.

That was answer I posted a while back to a similar question. Although if the temp is consitently in the 70's for a period of time I may suggest throwing some shad imitations. The warmer weather should cause the fish to start feeding a bit more and moving a bit more. Maybe try throwin a Zoom Fluke with a weighted hook or a swimbait or 2.

Freshwater Lures - Crank Baits And Hard Baits

Crank bait swimming lures are for shallow and deep water it depends on the size of the lip. They come in a variety of colors and size, you can fish them either from a boat or the shore or even a float so long as its not in the south like Florida or you may well end up as the bait to a hungry or curious gator.

The letter type lures look like fat chubs that wobble through the water as their retrieved. You fish these both slow and fast until you find out which the fish are hitting. The minnow type have different sized lips designed for either shallow or deep water there are a lot of manufactures.

A few of the most well known lures are Bomber, Cotton Cordell, Heddon, Rapala, Rebel and Strike King They come in a variety of colors and sizes some are good for both freshwater and saltwater. They are used by either a fast or slow retrieve and stop and go tactics.

They work best when using a snap swivel as this will allow more freedom of movement and helps if you need to change color type just be sure that the snap swivel is not to big. In dirty or murky water bright colors work best, this being said they can also work well in clear water just not as well as darker colors or what ever the actual bait fish look like.

Another good hard-bait is tiny torpedo's by Heddon they will have a small propeller just before its tail hook and as all lures they come a multitude of colors and sizes. This is a great lure it can be used by reeling in fast or slow, here is a neat tactic for this lure after it hit's the water do nothing wait till all the ripples have died off then give it a few tiny twitches the results can be an explosive hit.

Top water lures or plugs as their often called are fantastic ways to catch fish. There are many types of top water lures available far more then I can list here so I will only list a few and they all come in different colors. Heddon's Zara Spook puppy, Zara super spook jr. and Zara spook they also have these for saltwater but I will have that in another article on saltwater lures. The best method for using this lure is is a quick jerk of you rods tip then reel in the slack and repeat you can alter your speeds to help increase its effectiveness.

Another good top water lure is Rebel Pop R it casts like a bullet the only thing you need to watch is not to allow to much slack as this popper will sink if you let it. But this is a good lure and will catch plenty of fish, you use it in the same way as the spook. You can also allow it to sink a few feet and reel it in like the spook only very slow you should get strikes with this method.

One thing you should never do is give it a hard jerk on your line. I have seen people do this and end up having the lure come out of the water and either hook themselves or someone else and I have seen many having to climb trees to retrieve their errant lure.

Jitterbugs are another good top water lure many of the pros swear by them and sometimes at them. They make a lot of commotion when reeled in either fast or slow.

If you want to catch more fish start fishing as the sun goes down. Night fishing is the very best time to catch fish either for freshwater or saltwater. Be sure you bring a good flash light and bug spray, the fish are far more active at this time then they are during the daylight hours.

			QUESTION:
Is it OK to tie a swivel w/safety snap to your line & then just snap on lures?
I'm always wanting to switch lures, especially when trying for bass. Rather than tying on a new lure every 5 minutes, is it OK to just tie a swivel w/ safety snap and then just use the safety snap to change lures? I'm talking about with top water rapallas, deep divers, spinners, jigs w/whatever & even a plain old hook. It seems like this would be the easy way to go, but I think I remember hearing long ago that I shouldn't, for some reason.

				ANSWER:
Take the time to tie your knot, it doesn't take that long. Swivel/snaps are highly visable, and they effect the action of the lure. I've also seen them break, and bend.

Can I Really Build My Own Fishing Rod?

"Can I really build my own custom fishing rod?" I'm often asked when I show anglers some of the rods I've built over the years. Some seem to think that special tools are required or that a great deal of skill is required t 00004000 o build fishing rods.

The fact is, even children have been taught to build fishing rods! It is not a complicated procedure nor does it have to be time consuming. And just some of the benefits of building your own rod include:

Customizing it to fit you instead of just getting a rod off the rack made for the average angler.

Selecting the components (handle, reel seat, and guides) that you want on your rod.

The feeling of pride when you hook and land the first fish on a rod you built yourself can't be beat!

The first time you make your own custom built fishing rod, you will probably want to resist the urge to create fancy intricate decorative thread wraps as they can be time consuming with a learning curve involved. However, you will still be able to build something that is both attractive and that you will be proud of.

There are a number of rod handle kits available that are simply epoxied onto the rod blank and these are fantastic for those who don't have the tools or space to make fishing rod handles from 1/2" cork rings. These kits may also include a reel seat, or you can select an individual reel seat yourself.

Guides (sometimes referred to as "eyes" - that the fishing line goes through) are secured to the blank of a fishing rod using nylon thread. A finish that is especially designed to go over thread on fishing rods is then applied.

There are a number of great resources available and many people willing to help you along the way when you decide to build your first custom fishing rod. Why not plan to make a winter project of it? Next spring, you could be catching fish on a rod you've built yourself!

			QUESTION:
What is best reel for bass/pike fishing in Canada?
I'm going to canada to go fishing for the first time this summer. I'm exctited but I've never really gone fishing for anything over 6lbs. What are some reels that I should look at and what are some of the mechanical characteristics that I should be looking for in the reel to handle a fish that is 7 to 15lbs.

				ANSWER:
You really need 2 different types of outfits for Canada fishing.

For larger Pike/Musky fishing you should take a round style baitcaster such as these:

1. Abu Garcia C3 5500 - http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_74090____SearchResults

2. Shimano Calcutta CT 400 B - http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_63169_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1

Use a medium-heavy or heavy action 7' rod for the above.

You would need to spool your reel with 10-12LB Braided line (such as Power Pro shown here- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44282____SearchResults ). Make sure to always use a leader of Mono or Fluorocarbon when casting with such heavy Braid. 25-30LB leader size should be plenty.

You would also want to bring a lighter action spinning outfit with a 7' medium action rod for Bass, smaller Pike & Walleye.

Can you use a lighter action rod for large Pike/Musky? Yes.

However, when larger Pike/Musky are fought for a long time they tend to die due to a build-up of toxins in their blood when over-exerted. No one wants to kill a trophy Musky due to fatigue................

Hope this helps ya? Good luck on your trip.

PS- If you can't afford 2 outfits think about purchasing a low-profile baitcaster. That would be a good compromise between a (too light) spinning outfit and a (too heavy) large Pike/Musky outfit.

Here are some good reels. (Please read all reviews):

1. Shimano Citica E- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_102800_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1

2. Abu Garcia Revo S- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_84683_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1

3. BPS Rick Clunn- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_104020_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1

Maine Ice Fishing - 3 Important Things To Reel 'em In!

Maine is quite known for its varied sports & the popular winter activities. Among these Ice Fishing is top on the list. It offers a lot of varieties in terms of the species of the fish. Also it gives you opportunit 00004000 ies to fish in the varied lakes & waterways that are otherwise quite inaccessible for the anglers in the summer months.

For instance, deep water fishing in the lakes like Lake Cumberland, Lincoln, Knox etc. require a boat in the summer months, and in the winter months it requires only a sled & a warm pair of the boots.

In the Maine Ice Fishing tournament there are a host of other events. These events are different for the experienced anglers & the new comers in the winter sport. These tournaments include several games played in varied regions of the state like the Jackman & the Moose River Regions. The Sebago fishing derby are also played in the Moose River Regions.

The highlights of the Sebago Derby Winter Season of the Maine Ice Fishing are as follows:

1. This tournament includes some key events that are as follows:

a. Nordic Walking

A great activity for one & all, this is a new means to safely exercise in the colder temperatures.

b. Polar Ice Dip

In this game the individuals has to wear a swimming suit & go for the dip in a lake in the temperatures as low as you've never imagined. This surely is a sport for some brave people.

c. Kids Fishing Tourney

Divided in to varied age categories, the children compete in order to see who catches the biggest fish and the longest fish; but the key idea is surely to enjoy the sport as much as they can.

d. Snowshoe Race

This is an interesting & fun race where anybody can join in by simply strapping on their snowshoes.

e. Winterfest

These are a host of fun activities, entertainment & food for all the participants of the tournament & the guests.

2. Entrance in the Sebago derby

a. This is a typical tournament as compared to the other tournaments of Maine Ice Fishing.
b. For its entrance one needs a pre-registration.
c. For that they must pay a flat fee depending on the fact that an individual angler is participating of the entire family does.
d. The participants are allowed to fish in some specific areas during the designated times only.
e. All the participants must have their fish weighed at the weighing stations in the end of the tournament.
f. Also there are limits levied on the quantity of fish of the varied species that are allowed to be weighed each day.
g. This limit does not stand for the Muskie and the Pike.
h. For pickerel the limit is ten per day.
i. Togues' limit is 2 per day.
j. Through out the derby, all the participants are bound to follow the rules & restrictions as stated by the Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife.

3. Staying for the Derby

a. Through out the water ways of Maine, Ice Fishing is now considered as the key feature of their winter economy.
b. Several extensive guides, lodges & winter chalets provide accommodation
c. They also provide several fishing trips in several lakes of the area.
d. The fishing lodges also organize tours & trips for the family members who are not interested in being at the lake all through the day.

I had a Shamona Sodona 1500Hb before and would like too find another but cant find in my fishing cataloges would any body out there be able to help me. Thank you

				ANSWER:
I have an Abu Garcia Cardinal that I really like that is for the lines you listed. I looked but it doesn't have a model # on it, only says 5 ball bearings.

I also own around 5 or 6 Okuma brand reels. They are very nice, top of the line and won't bust your wallet.

That's the spinning reals. I'm not a fan of their baitcasters.

			QUESTION:
Fishing reel (6.4:1 gear ratio) spins too fast on cast, jams on excess line?
I have a Bass Pro Shops Extreme baitcast reel and rod. upon casting, the reel unwinds so fast that it spins faster than the line is going out, and eventually gets caught on itself. having more weight on the line obviously helps (because it helps bring the line out faster), as well as holding the reel with my thumb. However, medium/long casts are impossible. What can I do?

				ANSWER:
Casting has nothing to do with gear ratio. You should have a tension knob on your reel. Hold your rod straight out and adjust the tension to where when you release the spool, the weight/lure will smoothly go to the ground but the spool will no longer overspin once it hits. It sounds like you don't have much experience casting. You may want to tighten it up just a bit more than that until your thumb gets a little better. Then you can start loostening it more and more for longer casting.

			QUESTION:
A fisherman is reeling in a fish. In 5.2 s he winds 2.1 m of fishing line onto a reel whose radius is 4.8 cm (
A fisherman is reeling in a fish. In 5.2 s he winds 2.1 m of fishing line onto a reel whose radius is 4.8 cm (assumed to be constant as an approximation). The line is being reeled in at a constant speed. Determine the angular speed of the reel.

				ANSWER:
ω = V/r.  V = L/t = 2.1/5.2 = .4038 m/s.  So,
ω = .4038/.048 = 8.413 rad/sec

			QUESTION:
Intro physics problem, angular acceleration and friction in fishing reel?
A fish takes the bait and pulls on the line with a force of 2.4 N. The fishing reel, which has a friction clutch that exerts a restraining torque of 0.046 N, is a cylinder of radius 0.060 m and mass 0.85 kg.

What is the angular acceleration of the fishing reel?

How much line does the fish pull from the reel after 0.3 s?

Thank you very much. I'm very confused on how to put everything together.

				ANSWER:
For the first part
Angular acceleration = torque / moment of inertia
the moment of inertia for a solid cylinder is 1/2*m*r^2
Torque is equal to the radius times the force
So:
angular acceleration = r * F / 1/2 * m * r^2

The second part use (r^2 * t / 2I)* t^2 = x

			QUESTION:
A cylindrical fishing reel has a moment of inertia of I = 6.7 10-4 kg·m2 and a radius of 4.0 cm. A friction c?
A cylindrical fishing reel has a moment of inertia of I = 6.7 10-4 kg·m2 and a radius of 4.0 cm. A friction clutch in the reel exerts a restraining torque of 1.3 N·m if a fish pulls on the line. The fisherman gets a bite, and the reel begins to spin with an angular acceleration of 74 rad/s2. If the force of the fish on the line is 33.5N, how much of the line unwinds in .60seconds?

				ANSWER:
It seems that most of the information given is not needed. If the fish keeps accelerating away then all you need is the tangential acceleration ( angular acceleration . radius of reel ) and the equation

d = 1/2 . a . t^2     =  1/2 . 74 . 0.04 . 60^2  =  1.48 . 3600  = about 5400 m   .... wildly improbable.But so is    an acceleration of momre than 10 rev per second....every second!

Catfish Tackle Preparation Be Successful

Do you enjoy going catfish fishing? Many anglers do. In fact, catfish is one of the most popular species of fish there is. They taste great and they can put up one heck of a battle that will certainly give you a run for your money. However, the one thing that you don't want to do is go catfish fishing unprepared. If you do, you will end up regretting it.

Catfish may be one of the most sought after fish there is but they can also be one of the hardest to catch. If you are not prepared when you go out, you will either not get any bites or you will not be able to reel them in. Catfish will put up one powerful fight and weak equipment will simply not get the job done.

Plus, they can be some really giant sizes that will be hard to pull in. Therefore, before you go catfish fishing you need to be prepared. This way you can show friends and family the giant cat you caught instead of telling the story about how he got away.

Preparing Your Tackle Box

When you are getting things ready to go catfish fishing the tackle box is a very important item. Therefore, you should start by preparing your tackle box. Most likely you have collected quite a bit of tackle throughout the years. You probably have a favorite fishing rod, reel and even lures that you prefer using everytime you go out. Now you need to take all of this equipment and organize it.

The first thing that you will need is a good strong tackle box. If you need to go out and buy one then pick something a little bigger than you think you would need. This will give you room for growth and adding to your box later on. The main requirement of a tackle box is durability. It needs to be strong, rust proof and waterproof. However, keep in mind that if water can seep in through the cracks of the box, then it needs to have removable parts. This way you can open it up and let everything dry out to prevent your gear from molding.

Another thing that you must consider is whether or not you will be carrying your tackle box around with you. For instance, if you do a lot of shore fishing, then it needs to be lightweight. If you always go out on the same boat fishing, then it really doesn't matter if the box is heavy. Tackle boxes are designed with compartments so you can separate your lures and hooks according to size and shape. This makes it easy to get to the right tackle you need for the size of catfish you are trying to catch. This is an important factor because you need to choose your tackle according to the size of the cats in the body of water that you are fishing.

If you fish in both saltwater and freshwater, then it is recommended that you prepare two separate tackle boxes. Saltwater catfish fishing requires different types of gear than freshwater fishing does. By having two separate boxes you won't have to waste time fumbling through one box trying to find the items you need. It is simply more convenient and organized having two tackle boxes.

			QUESTION:
setting up a tackle box.(for waters in the south)?
I live in the lowcountry of South Carolina and my boyfriend lost his tackle box(he left his tailgate down and it came out). I was looking online and trying to find some tackle for him and basic things that i could get him started with to at least go back out and fish but I dont want to buy something that wont be relevant in the waters here...ya know? like a lure for a fish we dont even have in our area...lol he fishes both salt and freshwater, mainly he fishes in rivers, or ponds. nothing to far out. he says he catches just simple pan fish, crappies and things like that...alot of bass. So maybe some things specifically for bass fishing? and then some other basic things...i dont know. thats why Im asking! So help a girl out Thanks.

				ANSWER:
For bass fishing definately get him some jig heads, then get him jigs, (these are the rubber baits that will attach to the jig head) preferably ones that look like minnows or long nightcrawlers. For larger fish get some spinners, (if he fishes rivers he can cath trout with these) make sure they are colorful and have a tri-hook (three barbs off of the hook) at the end, if he fishes for a lot of bass try getting weedless spinner baits. Get him a few crankbaits too. Find ones that are fat, short, loud, and colorful. If you still want to get him more then maybe try some topwater baits, these look like crickets, frogs, or lizards and float on top of the water. If you have any questions about how to find these in a store just tell the employee the name of the bait (ex. "crankbait"). He should have a lot of fun with these baits!

• Marc Mero didn't leave WCW over money issues. He left because of the angle he was in where he was involved with another man's wife. • Larry Zbyszko is a licensed pilot.

• Sid once backed down from a fight with Brian Pillman in a hotel bar, retreated to his car to arm himself with a weapon with which to defend himself and returned clutching a squeegee.

• Ted Dibase was once the Mid-South North American Heavyweight Champion.

• World Championship Wrestling was once called Georgia Championship Wrestling.

• In many of his WrestleMania matches Randy Savage would foreshadow the result of his bout by the color hat he wore to the ring. Two examples: 1 when he wrestled the Ultimate Warrior at WMVII as a heel and left as a babyface, he entered the ring wearing a white hat. 2. when he defeated Ric Flair at WMVIII to take the WWF strap, he wore a gold costume.

• Hulk Hogan agreed to drop the world title to the Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VI because he was planning on retiring and wanted to pass the torch on to his babyface successor so he wouldn't have to come back and get "revenge" on a heel for his fans.*Hogan forced McMahon to give him the strap at the end of WMIX by threatening to no-show his tag earlier on the show with Brutus Beefcake against IRS & Ted Dibiase.

• WrestleMania VII was moved from the Rose Bowl to the Sports Arena in Los Angeles because Vince McMahon feared a sniper might try and take out lead heel Sgt. Slaughter, playing the role of a Iraqi sympathizer during the Gulf War.

• Apparently feeling he had nothing to lose, Sid Justice doublecrossed Vince McMahon by kicking out of Hogan's legdrop at WMVIII. Sid had been caught cheating on a drug test a few weeks earlier and was going to be suspended. Sid's manager, Harvey Whippleman (who is said to have supplied Sid with the false urine sample that WWF official Dave Hebner found Sid carrying in a vile) reacted quickly, jumping into the ring and getting his man disqualified before all hell broke loose.

• McMahon wanted a Flair-Hogan main event for WMVIII, but before Flair surprisingly was unable to re-up on a contract with WCW, McMahon signed Sid with the promise he would wrestle Hogan at the next WM. So, McMahon went with a double main event of Hogan-Sid and Flair-Savage.

• Prior to WMX, McMahon had Lex Luger come out with the world belt for a television taping, scheduled to air after the pay-per-view. Either planning a swerve all along or changing his mind after word got out, McMahon had Bret Hart win the three-way tournament between Hart, Luger and Yokozuna.

• In 1994, WCW used to hire paid models and actors to sit in the audience to cheer and boo their wrestlers because the audience was usually dead for their shows.

• When WCW did the World Wide show, they used to have a monitor to tell the audience who to cheer and who to boo. One one occasion when Rick Rude and the Equalizer (the "heels") came out, the audience accidentally cheered for them and WCW had to reshoot their entrance over again.

• When Shawn Michaels was attacked outside of a nightclub by approximately 10 "thugs" (actually it was by a marine group), Shawn was accompanied by Davey Boy Smith and Sean Waltman (1-2-3 Kid). Shawn tried to be the brave one and he ended up suffering for it.

• The WWF says that the Dynamite Kid left the WWF and retired because of an injury. Actually, the Kid still wrestles in England and the real reason he left was because of a locker room fight with him and Jacques Rougeau. The Bulldog opted to keep contact with the WWF and because of that and other reasons, the Bulldog and the Dynamite Kid haven't spoken in years.

• On May 11, 1987, Kevin Von Erich collapsed in the middle of the ring during an eight-man bout pitting him, The Fantastics, and Bruiser Brody against Brian Adias, Black Bart, Al Madril, and Al Perez. Fantastic Tommy Rogers, seeing Von Erich turning blue, administers cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

• Bam Bam Bigelow was chosen as the opponent for Lawrence Taylor at WMXI because he was the WWF's best big man worker. Bigelow says that as payment for doing the job he was promised a big babyface push down the road. That didn't happen as The Cliq (not fans of Bam Bam) began gaining political power, and Bigelow wasn't with the company very much longer.

• Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty won the WWF tag team title from Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart in October of 1990 at a taping for Saturday Night's Main Event. Neidhart had been fired and was filling contractual obligations, which including jobbing the tag titles to another team. In what should have been a minor point, the top rope broke at one point during the match. The Rockers defended the titles for a week after that, but then Neidhart was re-hired by the WWF, and Vince McMahon decided that the title change never actually happened, in one of the goofier decisions of the 90s, and one of many to affect the careers of Shawn and Bret. As an explanation, a story was sent to Pro Wrestling Illustrated about the rope break causing an "unfair working environment" for both teams, and hence the title reign was annulled. This was simply to cover up for the fact that they reported the title change as fact a week prior and needed a reason to no longer report it as such. The title change was edited out of the Main Event broadcast, and thus went down in history that the Rockers never had the belt.

• The Ultimate Warrior left the WWF in 1991 because he and Vince McMahon did not come to terms on his future role...Warrior wanted to be in the title situation but the WWF saw differently...in 1992, the Warrior disappeared again because he did not want to get involved in a second-rate feud with Nailz.

• In 1991, Ric Flair was fired/quit WCW. He showed up in the WWF soon thereafter holding the WCW title and claimed to be the "Real World's champion." QUESTION:
Whee in Hong Kong can i go for some peaceful fishing?
Ok so i am from Canada and i have lived here for 2 years and have not yet gone out for fishing. I have fishing rods and a full tackle box and i am itching to fish. I have never fished for salt water fish so if there is anything specific i need to know then please fill me in. Also a website that could help me identify which fish i can catch and eat would be nice as well. Also is there any regulations about fishing, like limits, and fish you are restricted to catch??

OK so i dont want to go to the harbour at Tsim Sha Tsui and fish like the old people do. The fish they catch are honestly 2 inches long and you would need 20 to feed one person. I dont want to go somewhere that there is 1,000,000 people because i can go anywhere in hong kong to find that. I want a somewhat secluded place that i can go, even if its just people fishing thats fine i just dont want the tourist traps like repulse bay where you cant even fish anyways.

I know of Sai Kung but i am not sure how to get there and i dont know if i can just fish off the rocks there or if i need to charter a junk. I would like to charter a junk one day but i want to do that when my father comes back to hong kong, not now. My girlfriend told me there is a beach at Wu Kai Sha but i have never been there before.

ANY help would be much appreciated, thank you so much!

				ANSWER:
Hi

There are several places you can fish in Hong Kong which are semi secluded. I can't help on the actual fishing details but I can help on location.

Tai Po, You can take a bus to Tak Mei Tuk 31B from the MTR on a minibus and get off at the entrance to Tung Tze village. There is a rocky outcrop there which you can fish in the ocean.

You can also walk from here to the plover cove revoir one side is fresh water the other side is the ocean.

Alternatively you can take a ferry to Lamma Island and walk to Tung O Wan beach there is a 2km trail which leads to an abandoned village with a pier on it.

There are also some concrete piers on the south of Lantau Island at Pui O, you can see them on googlemaps.... if you want there long enough a sampan usually comes along and they let you have rides for a couple 0.

Surf Fishing Gear

Surf fishing would require an appropriate gear called as the surf fishing gear. If you are an experienced surf angler then you might exactly target the surf fish you want to catch. As they are more experienced, they would directly target the surf fish and get them at the first try. They hold a tackle collection of the meager equipments. However, this is not true always. When you are new to surf fishing then you might not be that good in getting your saltwater surf. Therefore, one must go into surf fishing gear. One need not fear that they are not good at surf beach fishing, and hence they hesitate to progress further.

However, we provide you simple options to get a trophy in saltwater surf fishing using your normal saltwater fishing gear but specially optimized for surf fishing gear. Get a good gear and set up live bait. You must get two rigs for surfing. These rigs should be very accurate, so one can get them in shop or one can do them on their own. One of the rigs is called as the fireball rig and the other called as the free lining rig. Depending on the type of bait used, you must decide on the hook size. Sometimes you can get circular hooks that may very easily bring your fish by mouth. Especially if you are into beach fishing just for sport then make yourself an oath that you will catch and release fishes. In that situation, you might use this circular hook to remove the fish safely and leave them back in water.

			QUESTION:
What Setup should I get for my first surf fishing trip?
I am going on a backpacking trip up the lost coast and want to try out surf fishing, but have no gear and have never been much of a fisherman. What essential gear do I need in order to catch a fish? If anyone out there could give me a good idea for a basic setup that would be effective but lightweight I would really appreciate it!

				ANSWER:
One thing's for sure, the rod should be a travel rod like the one shown at http://www.go-saltwater-fishing.com/travel-fishing-rods.html. Any other type will be a pain in the butt to take on a backpacking trip.
Pair it with a spinning reel loaded with 15lb nylon monofilament line, buy a few shore casting rigs and some 2oz to 4oz leads and you're all set. These rigs are cheap, and having a few professionally made-up ones means you can use them as patterns for tying some yourself.
Tight lines!

			QUESTION:
how to buy products from fishing companys, with out owning shop?
Hi everyone, i would like to buy fishing lures, reels, line, tools, and stuff, in wholesale from company’s like Berkley, Halco, Shimano, Daiwa, Okuma, Jarvis Walker, ect, to sell on eBay and my local fishing forum,
But the trouble is that they will not sell to people who do not own a shop, i.e. brick premises, is the anyway to get past this or is the places that you can buy it from that sell it cheap and do not require a brick premises
Cheers Corey

				ANSWER:
Er, have a look on Amazon for Daiwa. Don't think Amazon have any brick premises.
I would imagine these manufacturers just don't wholesale to anyone. They have their own outlets (signed up agencies) who they strictly control. They, or their authorised agents, don't want some renegade messing up their product/pricing structure.
I would suggest setting up a business (sole trader), get letterheads and write to these people.
But you seam to have answered your own question: "But the trouble is that they will not sell to people who do not own a shop, i.e. brick premises".

			QUESTION:
How do you catch a fish in a small lake, with a boat, fishing pole, bait, weights, bobbers...?
The lake is kinda stocked, it is a little piece of a larger lake, the larger lake is stocked, and there is a little stream leading to our lake.

				ANSWER:
If it is a tributary off a large lake you probably could catch some crappie, bream, bass, and shell crackers.Just tie a hook on the end of your line, put a couple split shot weights about 6 inches above the hook, clamp on the float to fish about 2 1/2 feet deep, try some worms or crickets and see what happens. Also, my favorite is bottom fishing, just buy you a magazine to show you how to tie a Carolina rig and try that, its always worked for me.If you want to catch some decent bass, try using a plastic worm, or a rooster tail or beetle spin, they are also great attractors.Good luck, its just a matter of finding a pattern.

Thanks.

				ANSWER:
I've never heard of such a thing. Of course, you could always agitate the float yourself by wiggling the rod tip instead of making a battery-operated one yourself.

			QUESTION:
What is the best way to arrange weights, bobbers, swivels, beads and whatever else for freshwater fishing?
I have Berkely's 8lb fireline crystal and a 6' 6" ugly stick classic with a Pflueger Supreme 8035MG spinning reel and i will be mainly fishing for largemouth bass and trout.

				ANSWER:
Well there are countless ways to set up those things. It all just depends on what type of fish, and in what conditions you are fishing. The best I can suggest is to look up the names of different rigs, and how to set them up, you can then cross ref those rigs with what type of fish youa re fishing for. (use google for the cross ref).

Use http://www.anglersresource.org/rigsetup.html for a list of good rigs and how to set them up, and go from there.

I hope this helps
