My gf and I go fishing in California also... In Manteca there is a Bass Pro Shop,,, were kinda lucky since its the only one on the West Coast... you can order pretty much anything from there online if you dont wana make the drive although you gotta go there at least once, its freakin awesome... Cabelas and tacklewarehouse is also pretty good. We go to the Delta pretty often,,, right now the striper and sturgeon,,, more north in the Sac river is salmon for a lil while longer,,, I dont do much saltwater although we'd like to someday, but inland we use a 6.5 ft-7ft med-medheavy rod,,, with about 12-14lb line,,, I have a abu garcia baitcaster while my gf has a breast cancer awarenes ugly stick,,, they both work fine for the striper and largemouth n blackbass... however Im also getin another pole strictly for bass... you can spend as much as you like on all this stuff,,, bass pro shop brands are easy on the pocket and are pretty good....
